Waypoint Leasing, an Ireland-based global helicopter leasing company with operations in Darien, has marked its first year of operations and provided a business update to the market.
The company said in a press release it has built its capital base from $375 million in equity financing last year to more than $900 million in capital raised to date.
Waypoint plans to continue meeting the demand for helicopters and financing solutions, CEO Ed Washecka said.
“Waypoint’s ability to expand our platform and our high volume of new customer relationships is a reflection of our unique approach to the marketplace and the widespread recognition and adoption of helicopter leasing solutions broadly,” Washecka said.
Waypoint has ordered more than 80 helicopters valued at more than $1 billion, which will be delivered over the next five years. The company, with a fleet of aircraft ranging from light single-engine to heavy twin-engine helicopters, is currently leasing more than 40 aircraft. The aircraft come from 15 countries and are delivered from Airbus Helicopters, Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. and Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland.
Waypoint’s fleets are used in oil and gas missions, emergency medical services, search and rescue, firefighting, governmental and other operations.
