Less than two months after American Airlines announced the termination of its service from New York International Stewart Airport, the airline has reversed its decision and resumed service with a daily connection to Philadelphia.
The airport was among 15 where American Airlines suspended flights from Oct. 7 to Nov. 3, citing “low demand and the expiration of the air service requirements associated with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.”
The airline resumed service at 12 of the airports, with Stewart, Tweed New Haven Airport and Pennsylvania”™s Williamsport Regional Airport being cut from its operations; American”™s Tweed service resumed in late December.
American Airlines has been part of Stewart”™s carriers since 1990 and rejoins Allegiant Air as the only airlines serving the airport. Two other airlines that also recently ended service at Stewart, JetBlue and Delta Airlines, have not announced plans to return to the facility.
