The Frick Collection, the New York City art museum, has announced the new exhibition “The Gregory Gift,” consisting of 28 fine and decorative works of art recently bequeathed to the Frick by Alexis Gregory (1936”“2020), the founder of The Vendome Press, the art and architecture book publishing company.
The gift, which is being shown as a group for the first time, includes two 18th century pastels, 15 Limoges enamels, two 18th century clocks, a large gilt-bronze figure of Louis XIV, and objects made of metal, enamel, and hardstone dating from the 16th through 18th centuries.
The exhibition runs from Feb. 16 to July 9 and is organized by Marie-Laure Buku Pongo, the Frick”™s assistant curator of decorative arts; a fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition. More information is available on the Frick”™s website.
