Sammy Hagar canceled his Oct. 23 concert at Port Chester”™s Capitol Theatre due to a scheduling conflict.
Hagar announced on his website over the weekend that he will instead be playing the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J. Ticket refunds for the Capitol show are available at the point of purchase.
The rocker and his backing band the Wabos are in the midst of a milestone U.S. tour called “Four Decades of Rock.” Hagar has been a rock staple since the 1970s as a solo artist and the former lead singer of the band Montrose. He is perhaps best known as the frontman of  Van Halen (he replaced original singer David Lee Roth in the 1980s, but Roth has since returned to the band).
The cancellation isn”™t a total loss for fans of “The Red Rocker,” who is also the founder of the Cabo Wabo tequila brand and restaurant chain. Local fans wanting to attend the New Jersey show will get a 50 percent discount at the Count Basie Theatre box office by mentioning the “Sammy Hagar Port Chester Promotion.” He also announced he will donate an unspecified amount to the Food Bank for Westchester.
