Massachusetts’ Worcester Art Museum will be presenting “Watercolors Unboxed,” a June 10 to Sept. 10 exhibition of 40 rarely seen watercolors and drawings from the museum”™s collection.
Spanning the 1870s through the 1950s, the exhibition traces the development of watercolor from its European roots to its adaptation as a uniquely American art form. The works of American masters Winslow Homer, Rockwell Kent and John Singer Sargent and European greats Amedeo Modigliani, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Gustave Baumann will be part of the presentation.
Because of their sensitivity to light, many of the featured artworks have not been on display at the museum since the 1980s.
More information on the exhibition is available at the museum”™s website.
