WVOX, the New Rochelle-based community radio station, continued a long-standing St. Patrick”™s Day tradition Monday with a live broadcast from Dudley”™s Parkview restaurant on the city”™s Echo Bay.
This year marked the 55th anniversary of the St. Paddy”™s broadcast, according to station officials.

The event is a tradition for many locals who attend to hear the broadcast, watch New York City”™s parade on television, Â eat heaping plates of corned beef and cabbage, and sip Irish stout (Dudley”™s, the waterfront restaurant, has Murphy”™s rather than Guinness on tap)
Each year during the broadcast, William O”™Shaughnessy, president and CEO of WVOX”™s parent company Whitney Media Inc., grabs a microphone and makes his way through the crowds at the restaurant and bar. O’Shaughnessy, WVOX’s editorial director, then conducts impromptu interviews with those in attendance, a virtual who”™s who of local political and government officials, radio personalities and listeners.
This year, some who faced O”™Shaughnessy”™s conversational line of questioning included New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and Westchester County Board of Legislators Vice Chairman Jim Maisano. Others on the hot seat included the author of this article, who hosts an hour-long program on WVOX each Friday.
