The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is hosting architect and author Phillip James Dodd on Sept. 14 for an illustrated talk and book signing of his new release titled “An American Renaissance: Beaux-Arts Architecture in New York City.”
Dodd”™s book details 20 of the finest examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in New York City. While showing public exteriors, its main focus is on the lavish interiors associated with the opulence of the Gilded Age ”“ often providing a glimpse inside buildings not otherwise viewable to the public. Light refreshments will be offered following the presentation as well as a special drawing for a complimentary tour led by Dodd of the Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
This lecture will be held at the Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave. in Norwalk, starting at 6:00 p.m. Admission is $15 for museum members and $20 for nonmembers, and tickets can be purchased on the museum”™s website. www.lockwoodmathewsmansion.com
