Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced the availability of $82 million in New York State Council on the Arts grants for nonprofit arts and culture organizations and individual artists.
Grants range from $10,000 to $49,500 and cover a diverse spectrum of arts and culture endeavors, including organizations that provide creative rehearsal spaces, folk art apprenticeships and three-week residencies with performing arts groups. Applications will be available starting June 1, with a July 13 deadline, and all applicants must complete the prequalification process through the New York State Grants Gateway before applying for a grant.
This new round of grant funding is smaller than the Fiscal Year 2023 awarding of $90 million, which was distributed among 426 artists and over 1,200 organizations.
“Arts and culture have long been a key part of New York”™s identity, and a critical component of our state”™s success as a rich and vibrant place to live, work, and visit,” said Hochul. “These vital funding opportunities will strengthen our creative sector by supporting a wide range of diverse and innovative projects, and will allow our arts and cultural organizations to further develop and grow, while making it more accessible for New Yorkers and visitors alike.”
