The Trimper Gallery is hosting its grand reopening on Saturday, May 25 after the completion of extensive renovations.
Between noon and 5pm guests will be invited to meet artists, other appreciators of fine art, and partake of wine, light snacks, and the latest art.
Sculptures, photography, and paintings ranging from the latest artists like Dylan Martinez and his incredibly realistic glass reproductions of water filled balloons to the color-oriented floral photography of Chad Kleitsh. Damien Hirst, Jimmy Nelson, KAWS and more round out the established artists on display.
Alex Trimper, the owner of the gallery explained that the renovations have created a contemporary space for contemporary art with highly modular furniture. At the same time he hopes to capture the charm of older galleries which he said are no longer found in Fairfield County.
“It’s more like a lounge. If you look at how art used to be sold in the 1950s you would walk in and it was less visible wall and pieces were butted up against each other, it was floor to ceiling artwork,” Trimper said. “There would be pieces stacked on the floor and these overstuffed sofas and just this totally relaxed environment where you could just be in the space and enjoy the work, talk to the galleriest and just be one with the art. That kind of space doesn’t exist in Fairfield County and that’s what we’re creating.”
The Grand Reopening is free to attend, and Trimper said he welcomes families and visitors during regular hours who simply want to appreciate the art.
