Art form and medium: Illustration with mixed materials, Acrylic, oils, crayon, pencil, magic markers. “”˜I”™ll use anything. I”™ve used face make up. I swear I would use lipstick if I didn”™t think someone would have lipstick come off on their fingers I fix it with hair spray.”
Background and art education: Casey has a degree and 30 years experience in commercial art and advertising design and graphic design. “That is how I make my basic living, and my husband supports me.”
What do you like best about your art? “Being able to do it.”
Why is art important? “Because it engages someone to see things from a different perspective. It forces someone to like or dislike it, to get involved in it emotionally.
“People do not understand the impact art has on their lives, they disregard it everywhere. I think art is communication; people do not realize that a box of cereal is communicating something. Many businesses do not realize the better they look to the public, the more impressive and sophisticated the look, the more the public will buy their product.” Â
Next project? “I have cut my teeth on these small intimate pieces. My goal is to make larger more expansive pieces.”
Commercial comment? “I do this for the love of it, I don”™t do it for money. But I would certainly like to do more of it for profit. The advantage for business to buy my art is it makes them look good and it”™s not going to cost them thousands. I would love to see my work in doctors”™ and executives”™ offices. I”™d gladly spread this stuff around because the more people who own it, the more exposure I have.” Â
