Over the last 40 years, The Downtown Cabaret Theatre has become an unrivaled jewel of Bridgeport and continues its mission to bring high-quality entertainment to audiences of all ages. Since 1975, Downtown Cabaret has brought consistently exceptional theatrical productions to more than 1 million adults and children while providing an intimate and unique cabaret-style atmosphere where audiences are encouraged to bring their own picnic to any show. The cabaret is determined to provide not only quality entertainment, but also an atmosphere for audiences to comfortably enjoy shows while spending time with and enjoying the company friends and family.
The Cabaret offers entertainment for everyone. Ringing in the New Year will be “Disco Nation,” Canada”™s premier disco show paying tribute to such dance floor favorites as Donna Summer, Abba, The BeeGees and more. When the concert is over, the party begins as we play the hits from yesteryear while counting down to 2015. In the new year, the cabaret is bringing in a host of other concerts, including tributes to Fleetwood Mac, Queen, The Beach Boys, The Supremes and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
While, in recent years, the cabaret has established itself as a premier live music venue, concerts are not all it has to offer. Continuing its long history of producing top-notch Broadway-style shows, we are pleased to be presenting the musicals “The Wiz” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie” as well as non-musicals “Lord of the Flies” and “A Few Good Men.”
While concerts, musicals and plays offer a wide array of entertainment for audiences, the cabaret has become known for its Children”™s Company productions, which provide unique cabaret-style musicals for the whole family every weekend. Our season includes original productions of the Family Fun Trio, which tells the story of three classic children”™s tales in one. And later the Children”™s Company is pleased to present original productions of “Rapunzel” and “Willy Wonka.”
The Downtown Cabaret is a truly unique theater venue in the heart of Bridgeport, providing entertainment for the whole family while also offering a warm, friendly atmosphere to bring a picnic and enjoy the company of those around you. It is a place unlike any other, but we simply call it The Cabaret.
