The Talent Education Suzuki School was founded in 2005 to create a unique music school that is true to the Suzuki philosophy. TESS offers a comprehensive curriculum in a joyful, nurturing and full-service setting unlike any other instruction in Fairfield County. Shinichi Suzuki was one of the first people to recognize the ability of a young child when he was asked to teach a four-year-old to play the violin in the 1960s. He realized every child learns to speak their native language because it is in their environment and they are encouraged to speak. He reasoned that children could learn music the same way, by ear at an early age and through note reading later on.

The parent attends the lesson with the child and helps the child practice at home. Children learn to play their instrument in a private lesson, which is reinforced with a group class each week. The group class provides a social setting, ensemble training and performance practice. Through frequent performances, the children gain confidence on stage and develop the discipline of daily practice toward a greater goal. The faculty perform frequently, as well, to model this skill and share their own love of music.
TESS has become the premier center in Fairï¬eld County for exceptional musical instruction. We have programs year-round that help our families achieve their best and our faculty and director are always available to guide your musical journey. We are committed to the success of your child and are uniquely qualified to guarantee that success. Your child will gain many life skills through their musical studies as well as the ability to express themselves musically.
Training in the Suzuki method is required to be a qualified Suzuki teacher and all of our Suzuki teachers have received training through the Suzuki Association of the Americas. We have classes that are open to non-TESS students, as well: AP Theory, Jazz and Fiddling, Improv and chamber ensembles. For more information about the school, visit musicattess.com or call 203-956-6708.
