The Fairfield Museum and History Center will open a solo exhibit in May featuring the work of photographer and Connecticut native Philip Trager.
The opening of the Trager exhibit will coincide with the museum’s fifth annual IMAGES exhibition, which will celebrate the work of more than 40 photographers from New England and New York as well as featuring a competition for the best student and professional photographers.
The exhibits will be unveiled at a gala preview May 2 and will open to the public the following day.
Trager, whose career spans more than 45 years, is known for his architectural portfolio and over one two-year period traveled to all 169 towns in Connecticut to document the various architectural and design styles.
His work is featured in museums and galleries around the world, including New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
“We feel extremely privileged that Philip Trager is going to be our signature photographer for IMAGES 2013,” said Mike Jehle, executive director of the Fairfield Museum and History Center, in a statement. “Philip is internationally renowned for his brilliant work and he will be loaning the Museum several works that have never before been on exhibition.”
