Numerous Fairfield County organizations are among those receiving grants from the Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) for its fiscal year 2017. In total, COA awarded 129 grants totaling $1,532,598.
County organizations receiving grants under COA”™s Supporting Arts in Place (SAP) program ”“ which awards grants to eligible arts organizations and municipal arts offices to strengthen the state’s nonprofit arts industry ”“ were the Bridgeport Symphony ($9,400); Dandelion Productions (Bridgeport; $2,500); Klein Memorial Auditorium Foundation (Bridgeport, $9,000); Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County Inc. (Bridgeport, $12,400); and New England Ballet Co. (Bridgeport, $2,500).
Also receiving SAP grants were the Ives Center for the Arts (Danbury, $6,900); Darien Arts Council ($9,200); Bridgeport Symphony Youth Orchestra (Fairfield, $4,600); Connecticut Alliance for Music Inc. (Fairfield, $3,000); Connecticut Dance School (Fairfield, $6,400); Fairfield County Chorale (Fairfield, $5,900); and Fairfield Theatre Co. ($16,600).
Additional SAP grant recipients were the Greenwich Arts Council ($6,800); Silvermine Guild of Artists Inc. (New Canaan, $14,700); the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (Norwalk, $8,800); Creative Connections (Norwalk, $8,200); Norwalk Symphony Society Inc. ($7,200); Norwalk Youth Symphony ($7,000); Ridgefield Chorale ($3,600); Ridgefield Playhouse ($18,600); the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists (Riverside, $363); and the Rowayton Arts Center ($8,300).
Also receiving SAP grants were Curtain Call (Stamford, $5,700); Franklin Street Work Gallery (Stamford, $8,600); Pro Arte Chamber Singers of CT Inc. (Stamford, $3,600); Stamford Symphony Orchestra ($10.500); Mighty Quinn Foundation (Stratford, $2,100); Fairfield County Children”™s Choir (Trumbull, $5,000); Music on the Hill Inc. (Weston, $3,500); Westport Arts Center ($9,800); and Westport School of Music Inc. ($5,300).
Among those receiving grants under COA”™s Arts & Community Impact program ”“ which funds projects that create or sustain a meaningful relationship with non-arts stakeholders to connect the value of the arts to identifiable community needs, interests or opportunities ”“ were Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University ($10,000); Music Theatre of CT Inc. (Norwalk, $9,000); and Intake Organization Inc. (Stamford, $20,000).
Receiving grants under COA”™s Public Art Community (PAC)Â program, which provides funding for public art projects that engage in quality partnerships and consider community needs and opportunities, were Resonator Films LLC (Easton, $16,000) and Norwalk 2.0 ($15,000).
Receiving regional initiative grants were the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut (Danbury, $35,000), which also received a $30,855 regional service organization grant and the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (Norwalk, $35,000).
Under COA”™s Arts Learning program ”” which provides funding for the planning and implementation of new or expanded arts in education-based projects that engage partners to advance teaching and learning for birth to grade 12 in a defined community setting ”“ a grant was awarded to Arts for Healing (New Canaan, $20,000).
