Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford rolls out its new 65,000-square-foot CP-AC Fitness facility ”“ a health, fitness and clubhouse center next to the 400,000-square-foot Chelsea Piers main complex ”“ in December. The management team is now in place, Chelsea Piers reported in a statement.
Carolina Quiroga will be the fitness club director. Suzanne Vita Ponticello was hired as the new training and program director. Kathy Salvo will be group fitness director. Suzanne Pullen is the new CP-AC membership director, adding to her current membership director duties for the larger facility.
Salvo plans what the center termed “a robust class offering of more than 75 classes a week,” including in yoga, hot yoga, barre and Pilates, which are grouped in the “mind/body” subset, and traditional classes like TRX, boot camp, CompuTrainer, kickboxing and heart rate-based circuit training.
Quiroga most recently ran the Lifetime Fitness facility in Berkeley Heights, N.J., where she oversaw a team of 250 employees assisting more than 10,000 members.
Ponticello was formerly the director of health and fitness at the Darien YMCA, where she was responsible for training protocols, program curricula and 110 weekly group fitness classes.
Salvo joined Chelsea Piers Connecticut as the masters swim coach in July 2012, when the facility opened. She has since accrued more than 1,100 training hours of yoga.
Pullen, who was the first full-time employee at Chelsea Piers Connecticut, will continue in her role as membership director for the complex.
Greta Wagner, executive director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut, said, “With this team we have extensive club management, mind-body, team sports, personal training and group fitness experience. We are committed to creating an environment at the Athletic Club that will support our members”™ health and fitness goals; the team we have assembled is uniquely positioned to do just that.”
CP-AC Fitness will feature 25,000 square feet of strength and cardio equipment, a dedicated mind/body center for “Pilates Reformer” classes, multidisciplinary and hot yoga spaces as well as traditional group fitness studios and dedicated space for triathlon and cycling training. More than 75 weekly fitness classes and programs are planned. To join CP-AC is also to gain access to Chelsea Piers amenities, such as the pool.
There are early-registration privileges and preferred member pricing for sports programming.
The Fairfield County Business Journal first reported on the expansion in January.
