The Connecticut Department of Agriculture announced plans to partner with the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC), the Carrot Project, and the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust in order to distribute US Department of Agriculture (USDA) funds to develop the state’s agricultural businesses and markets on July 22.
One-on-one coaching on grants and technical aspects of running a business will be made available through the three organizations thanks to $2.1 million in funds from the USDA’s Resilient Food System Infrastructure Grant Program (RFSI). Agricultural businesses will be able to take this opportunity to learn about market diversification and development, supply chain coordination, and business and financial planning
“Offering these services is critical to supporting Connecticut’s agricultural community to ensure they have the tools and resources available improve the state’s food supply chain, build strong businesses, and increase the resiliency of our food system,” said Connecticut Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt. “By supporting supply chain coordination and technical assistance in processing, aggregation, and distribution, we are striving to increase access to expanded and improved markets for farmers.”
Each of the organizations will focus on a different aspect of business improvement.
