Freshman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney recently announced his subcommittee assignments on the House Agriculture and Transportation and Infrastructure committees, with hopes that the assignments will allow him to begin working on creating jobs and expanding the economy in the Hudson Valley.
On the Agriculture Committee, Maloney will serve on the subcommittees of General Farm Commodities and Risk Management as well as Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture. These subcommittees have jurisdiction over crop insurance, crops including fruits and vegetables, commodity exchanges, and biotechnology.
On the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, he will serve on subcommittees of Highways and Transit, Aviation, and Water Resources and Environment. These subcommittees oversee highway and transit facilities, aviation facilities, water infrastructure, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Maloney will be involved with the Army Corps of Engineers on flood and storm protection for areas of the Hudson Valley.
“Whether it”™s advocating for essential infrastructure like the Tappan Zee Bridge or ensuring that Congress passes a Farm Bill that protects family farms, I look forward to working with our local leaders and communities to fight for folks all over our district,” he said in a prepared statement.
