The New York Community Trust, which has had separate public faces for its regional branches Westchester Community Foundation and Long Island Community Foundation is integrating those regional branches under its umbrella brand, The New York Community Trust.
“The Westchester Community Foundation has operated as a division of The New York Community Trust. This transition aims to unify the brand architecture within The Trust and create stronger synergies across offices,” Laura Rossi, The Trust’s executive director for Westchester, told the Business Journal. “With this, our grantmaking activities will remain unchanged. Our commitment to the Westchester community remains strong, and our efforts will continue to reflect that dedication.”
In Westchester, The Trust has supported advocacy for affordable housing and innovative programs that help young people involved in the justice system get access to support services instead of facing incarceration and assistance to local municipalities responding to climate change.
Rossi, said she is “confident that working together under a unified brand will only amplify our ability to serve our region for the next century.”
The Trust said that its new brand architecture visually reinforces the long-standing ties between regional branches by unifying them under one name: The New York Community Trust. The action comes 100 years after the organization’s founding in 1924. The Westchester and Long Island community foundations were founded in 1975 and 1978 respectively,.
“As we look to the future, we know The Trust is only as strong as the diverse communities we serve,” said Amy Freitag, president of The New York Community Trust, “We look forward to engaging new partners and generous New Yorkers across Long Island and Westchester.”
A message on the website of what had been identified as the Westchester Community Foundation read, “As part of our centennial celebrations, we are creating a single, unified organization to more powerfully advocate for our region with one voice. We will still maintain our physical offices in Westchester with the same dedicated staff who will continue to honor and build upon our relationships with local nonprofits and communities.” The website displays the branding of The New York Community Trust.
