Stamford and Danbury are among the sites that will be visited by Connecticut”™s Health Information Technology Officer Allan Hackney for a series of roundtable discussions to review the findings of the Health Information Technology Advisory Council that has met over the course of the past year.
The meetings are designed to help inform ongoing health information exchange planning.
According to Hackney, the discussions “will further engage health care providers, advocates, and patients in building an HIE that meets provider needs and improves patient experience.”
“Improving how health care providers, hospital systems, and physician networks talk to each other is an important part of health care reform,” Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman said. “Efficient health information exchange helps people avoid unnecessary medical tests and expenses, and ensures timely information to providers so they can deliver the best care quickly. Having a system that works for providers and patients across the state will reduce overall health care costs and improve the quality of care for consumers.”
The community discussions are open to industry professionals and the general public. Attendees are strongly encouraged to register online in advance.
The Stamford event will take place on July 18 at 8 a.m. at the UConn Stamford Campus at 1 University Place. The Danbury edition will be held on July 19 at 8 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Community College campus at 190 Main St.
Meetings will also be held at Middlesex Community College in Middletown, Quinnipiac Medical School in North Haven and the UConn Health Center in Farmington.
