The Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board will hold a free orientation workshop on Jan. 24 for those interested in becoming a volunteer with the READI program. The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 120 Bloomingdale Road in White Plains.
The READI program, an acronym that stands for respect, enthusiasm, articulate, dependable and initiative, is a curriculum that aims to help youth prepare to enter the workforce.
During the orientation workshop, prospective volunteers will learn more about the program and the process of becoming a READI trainer. The initial group of volunteers will train others on the READI curriculum so they can implement the program to teens through various organizations.
READI workshops will be taught throughout the year and those interested can complete an application or attend the free session to learn more.
The time commitment to learn the curriculum is 15 to 20 hours. The organization said that those with an instructional or teaching background or professional development experience would make ideal trainers.
