Iona College announced Sept. 18 the public launch of Iona Forever, a $150 million fundraising campaign to create student scholarships, advance faculty and academic programs, and improve classrooms and living areas.
Iona College President Joseph E. Nyre made the announcement during an on-campus event celebrating the school’s 75th anniversary.
“The Iona Forever campaign is transformational for the college,” Nyre said. “The campaign will tear down barriers to affordability with student scholarships, endow great faculty and programs, and enhance key learning environments.”
The Iona Forever campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in the college’s 75-year history, is part of the college’s five-year comprehensive strategic plan developed in 2012.
Iona’s Board of Trustees, Campaign Cabinet, alumni and other supports have raised more than $61.4 million in donations during the quiet phase of Iona Forever, in which the school solicited funds from private donors.
Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president for Advancement & External Affairs at the college, said the school looks forward to engaging with its more than 40,000 alumni.
“It will provide the necessary resources for students, faculty and programs to continue to move the world and the career aspirations of our Iona community,” Sutera said. “Iona Forever is the fuel for realizing our ambitious strategic plan.”
