Snowden of Stamford most recently served five years as an associate for Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in New York. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his bachelor”™s degree from Middlebury College.

Women”™s council elects Nelsen as chairwoman
The Bridgeport Regional Business Council”™s Women”™s Leadership Council, a volunteer organization working to promote regional cooperation and economic development, appointed Mary Beth Nelsen as the council”™s new board chairwoman.
Nelsen has more than 20 years experience as an outcome-focused learning consultant and coach. She is also a Bridgeport Regional Business Council board member, a state co-coordinator for the Healthy Workplace bill, a justice of the peace and volunteer with Sandy Hook Promise and Charlotte Bacon Acts of Kindness.

Darien-based HHG & Co., a financial planning firm, appointed Lane L. Marmon as a director. William Raveis and Damon Runyon in cross-border cancer smackdown
The William Raveis Real Estate office in Chappaqua, N.Y., is launching a community fundraising drive to benefit the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, an effort that will tie in with the William Raveis Ride & Walk, Saturday, Sept. 12, 8 a.m., Jennings Beach, 880 S. Benson Road, Fairfield. The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is an organization that identifies new generations of cancer researchers and provides them with funding to pursue their ideas of preventing, diagnosing and treating all forms of cancer.
AFP appoints three to board
The Fairfield County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a worldwide organization working to advance philanthropy, appointed Anne Tack, Janina Serrao and Peter Saverine to its board of directors.
Tack, serving as vice president of communications for the board, is the principal and founder of Tack Writers, a grant-writing firm.
Serrao serves as director of development at Family & Children”™s Agency Inc. She brings with her eight years of professional fundraising experience.
Saverine is the director of philanthropy at STAR Inc., Lighting the Way, a Norwalk-based nonprofit for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
EUA recognizes 10 Connecticut McDonald”™s managers
English Under the Arches, an English language-learning program designed to help McDonald”™s employees advance their careers, recognized 10 Connecticut McDonald”™s managers as the year”™s first local graduates. A ceremony was held at the Trefz Corp. in Bridgeport in honor of the graduating class, with participants hailing from Central America and South America. The Connecticut graduates included Abundia Francisco, Margarita Oliva, Yanet Quechol, Angelica Ramos, Patricia Vera and Jonathan Villanueva of Bridgeport; Milton Guaman of Danbury; Adriana Martinez of Stratford; Yarie Martinez of Waterbury; and Carmen Renderos of West Haven.
SHU grad is NESN”™s next producer
Kiernan McGirl, a graduate of Sacred Heart University, was winner of the New England Sports Network”™s (NESN) contest. “NESN Next Producer,” a seven-episode TV series that showcased New England college filmmakers and their visions. He was awarded a job opportunity at NESN. The finale featured McGirl against a team of three students from Boston University. The judges split the prize, awarding the BU students the $20,000 grand prize and internships, while offering McGirl a job.
McGirl now works at NESN as an original NESN entertainment producer. He is currently working on documentary-style features on members of the Boston Red Sox.
Cole receives AssetMark award
Bridgeport-based Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut, a nonprofit providing employment and support services to people with disabilities and other challenges, announced that David Cole, chairman, was honored with the “AssetMark 2014 Community Inspiration Award.” AssetMark, an investment and consulting solutions provider for independent advisers, recognizes financial advisors who dedicate their time to nonprofits that serve local communities.
Cole of Fairfield has served on the board of directors at Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut since 1985.
First County Bank donates $2,500
Stamford-based First County Bank donated $2,500 to the YWCA Greenwich to help provide emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children.
Lubin reappointed to Trumbull Inland Wetland Commission
Andrew R. Lubin of Trumbull, an attorney with the New Haven law firm of Neubert, Pepe & Monteith PC, was reappointed to the Town of Trumbull Inland Wetland Commission. Lubin previously served a term on the commission from 2006-2009. He is a member of the New Haven County Bar Association Real Estate Committee and American Bar Association Real Property, probate and trust law section, subcommittee on commercial leasing.
