State, county and community health officials will be joined by staff at Montefiore Medical Center to discuss the Affordable Care Act and health insurance requirements at a Town Hall meeting Wednesday in Mount Vernon.
The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in Belsky Auditorium at 55 Valentine St. on the Montefiore Mount Vernon hospital campus. It is co-sponsored by Montefiore as part of its health education series, the Westchester County Board of Legislators and state Department of Health.
County Legislator Lyndon Williams, a Mount Vernon Democrat, who will host and moderate the meeting, said it is “meant to provide answers and reassurances” to Westchester residents with questions and concerns about the Affordable Care Act and their health insurance needs.
In addition to the co-sponsors, Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center staff also will present information at the meeting.
The event will be three days in advance of the start of open enrollment for individuals buying health insurance on the state”™s 1-year-old New York State of Health marketplace. Open enrollment will run from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15.
Navigators trained to guide New Yorkers through the state”™s online health exchange and certified application counselors will be at the Mount Vernon meeting to assist with pre-enrollment.
