The nonprofit Housing Action Council announced it is accepting applications for Pinebrook Condominium, an affordable housing development in Larchmont that will count toward Westchester County”™s requirements from a 2009 lawsuit settlement.
Prices range from $155,000 to $241,200, according to the nonprofit, and are tagged for households with incomes less than 80 percent of the county”™s median income, $103,700.
Single-person households can make up to $58,100 to be eligible for the units and a family of five can make up to $89,650. The units will range from 750 square feet to 1,630 square feet, each with a balcony in a building with an elevator, the council said.
Larchmont Mayor Anne McAndrews said, “We welcome the prospective homeowners and look forward to their participation in community activities.”
The 51 homes, developed by Wilder Balter Partners, will count toward the 750 units Westchester County agreed to build or obtain under its 2009 settlement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In that settlement, the county agreed to build most of the affordable housing in its towns and villages where the black and Hispanic populations were less than 2 percent and 7 percent of the overall population.
A lottery will be held Sept. 30 for applications, with move-ins beginning in spring 2015.
