Bearingstar Insurance, through its charitable fund, recently donated $2,000Â to the AmericanWarrior Connecticut Day of Honor, helping send 75 World War II and 25 Korean War veterans from Connecticut on a visit to Washington, D.C.’s war memorials.
The veterans were greeted by supporters, who escorted them to the WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Air Force, Navy, Seabee and Marine memorials. The veterans had the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Connecticut pillar of the World War II memorial and received a homecoming celebration upon returning to Connecticut.
AmericanWarrior is a nonprofit organization that funds and organizes trips for World War II and Korean War veterans to war memorials in Washington, D.C. More than 1,000 veterans have participated in the Day of Honor trips.
David Bauer, an insurance consultant at Bearingstar”™s Avon office, proposed the idea of donating to the AmericanWarrior organization and chaperoned the trip.
“I am thankful that the Bearingstar Charitable Fund made a donation to help make this trip possible for our WWII and Korean War veterans,” Bauer said in a statement. “This organization and its mission is very special to me because my dad was one of many who served during WWII, and AmericanWarrior brings these humble heroes to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials that were constructed in their honor. This Day of Honor serves as a day to thank those and pay tribute to those who sacrificed for our country.”
Bearingstar Insurance has 11 offices in Connecticut, including three locations in Fairfield County. The insurance company, a member of the Arbella Insurance Group, provides financial support for nonprofit organizations through the community gift program of the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund, a division of the Arbella Insurance Charitable Foundation Inc.
