The College of New Rochelle recently appointed a new dean for the school of nursing. Â H. Michael Dreher, who has thirty years of experience in nursing, developed one of the first doctor of nursing practice programs in the country.
Dreher worked in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at Drexel University in Philadelphia as an associate director and director, respectively, before coming to the College of New Rochelle.
Dreher, a University of South Carolina graduate, received his Ph.D in nursing science from Widener University in Pennsylvania. He continued as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology, School of Medicine and School of Nursing, studying how medical and psychiatric illnesses affect sleep.
“The healthcare landscape is rapidly changing,” Dreher said in a written statement. “To improve health outcomes and better serve diverse populations, our nation”™s nursing schools need to innovate more to help bring greater access to health care for those who still might remain underserved despite healthcare reform.”
