Briarcliff Cardiology joins Phelps
Cardiologists ARTHUR FASS, FRANKLIN ZIMMERMAN and DINA KATZ recently joined Phelps Medical Associates, a multispecialty medical group organized by Phelps Memorial Hospital Center. Now known as Phelps Cardiology in Briarcliff Manor, the practice will remain at 465 N. State Road in Briarcliff Manor. A complete range of cardiovascular diagnostic testing is available on site.
All three doctors have long been affiliated with Phelps. Fass is director of the hospital”™s department of medicine and Zimmerman is director of the critical care unit and president of the medical staff. Katz, who is trained in invasive and nuclear cardiology, offers her unique skills to patients in the Briarcliff office and at the hospital. All three share scholarly interests, including nationally recognized research, teaching and publishing.

Accolades for attorneys

ENTA adds to staff
DR. JOHN P. DODARO will be joining Tarrytown-based ENT and Allergy Associates”™ Staten Island and Old Bridge, N.J., practices Nov. 1.
A graduate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1989, Dodaro fulfilled his internship in general surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. He then completed a two-year preliminary residency in general surgery as well as four years of otolaryngology head and neck surgery at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn. Dodaro is a member of the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Most recently, he served in private practice, as the attending otolaryngology partner at The Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Institute in Hazlet, N. J., as well as the attending otolaryngologist and board member at Staten Island Physicians Practice in Staten Island.

Realty firm sponsors drive for WestHELP
HOULIHAN LAWRENCE, the largest family-owned and operated real estate brokerage in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties, is sponsoring a drive to collect back-to-school supplies to benefit the children of WestHELP, the Westchester outpost of the nonprofit organization HELP USA, one of the nation”™s largest providers of housing, job training and social services for homeless families and victims of domestic violence.
“Every child deserves a fresh start to the school year with the tools and supplies necessary to help them succeed,” said Nancy Seaman, chairman of Houlihan Lawrence and board member of HELP USA. ”¦ “As fellow parents, we feel a personal commitment to support our neighbors whenever possible.”
The back-to-school drive is being held now through Sept. 16. Houlihan Lawrence is inviting parents to encourage their children to select school supplies for the drive while shopping for themselves. Requested supplies include backpacks, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, etc., which can be dropped off at your local Houlihan Lawrence office.
WestHELP is a high-quality and safe permanent housing facility for 46 formerly homeless families in Westchester County. The residence”™s goal is to aid these families in their effort to maintain independence and stability by providing a broad range of support, including case management, day care, food and employment services among other programs.
Best of New York honor
TIMOTHY C. IDONI, Westchester county clerk, will be accepting a Best of New York award for the Best In-House Developed Application later this month for the electronic recording portal launched by his office last September.
Idoni expressed his gratitude upon receiving one of the awards.
“I am exceptionally proud to accept this honor which recognizes not only my vision to make government smaller and smarter, but also the work of a dedicated project team from my office and the county Department of Information Technology.”
Idoni”™s motto, “Making Government Easy,” has been a guiding principle for projects aimed at improving customer service, increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs. The Property Records Electronic Portal (PREP) System, which now facilitates electronic recording, turned a $500,000 capital investment into a cumulative five-year savings of more than $4 million.

Lawyer named counsel to police group
TED NOVICK, partner at Gaines, Novick, Ponzini, Cossu & Venditti L.L.P., White Plains, has been appointed lead counsel for the New York Police Chief Benevolent Association, a statewide advocacy group for the New York law enforcement community. In his law practice, Novick works on matters of government relations, municipal law and litigation, including medical malpractice and negligence.
The Police Chief”™s Benevolent Association, headquartered in Yorktown, was formed to serve, support and protect the police chiefs of the state especially when they are targeted for any reason.
New doctors added
WESTMED MEDICAL GROUP, based in White Plains, has added five new physicians to its staff.
Ӣ MAUREEN NELLIGAN of the Bronx, is a board-certified general internist with 15 years of clinical experience in private practice as well as university practice settings. Previously, she was with Montefiore Medical Group. Nelligan earned her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center.
Ӣ ROY FORREST of New York City, a board-certified internist, was awarded his medical degree from the University of Connecticut Primary Care Internal Medicine Program. He completed his residency and chief residency training at the same institution. Most recently, he was with Chen Medical Center in Miami, Florida, where he served as both primary care physician and hospitalist.
Ӣ ANA TUYAMA of New York City, is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. She received her medical degree from The Federal University of Minas Gerais School of Medicine in Brazil and completed her internal medicine residency training and gastroenterology fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Prior to joining WESTMED, she was a research fellow in gastroenterology at Brigham and WomenӪs Hospital in Boston, where she also served as a clinical instructor in medicine.
Ӣ BARRY JACOB KANNER of the Bronx, an interventional radiologist, graduated from New York University School of Medicine and completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowships in body imaging and interventional and vascular radiology at New York University Medical Center. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology as well as vascular and interventional radiology. Previously, he was an interventional radiologist at White Plains Radiology Associates. He also served as section chief of interventional radiology and attending vascular and interventional radiology at White Plains Hospital.
Ӣ RACHEL ARONOW of White Plains, was awarded her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency training at Jacobi Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she served as chief resident. She is a resident fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
