Norwalk-based Beinfield Architecture P.C. won the top award for business design from the Connecticut chapter of the American Institute of Architects, among firms with less than 50 employees, in recognition of its design of the Volo Aviation building at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford.
“The materials choice of polycarbonate cladding allows the architect to make something elegant out of a building type that is inherently ordinary, thereby creating a memorable customer experience,” AIA judges wrote of Beinfield’s approach on the Volo Aviation building.
The Glastonbury-based SLAM Collaborative won for larger firms for its work on Pfizer Inc. offices in Groton.
Other architects receiving recognition included:
- Greenwich-based Granoff Architects for its design of Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy”™s Stamford headquarters;
- Newtown-based Claris Construction”™s work on BMW”™s Ridgefield showroom; and
- Westport-based Roger Ferris + Partners design of RBS Americas”™ Stamford headquarters.
