The state Legislature has approved a request to lease McQuade”™s Children”™s Services”™ campus in New Windsor to St. Christopher”™s/Greenburgh-North Castle School District in Westchester. The legislation is pending the governor”™s signature.
“We are very hopeful the school and campus will be open in the near future and once again serve the special education needs of children of our community through St. Christopher”™s and the Greenburgh-North Castle School District,” McQuade Chairwoman Pamela Day-Kelly said in a prepared statement. “We have had incredible support from (state) Sen. Bill Larkin and Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun to help make this possible. After the governor signs the legislation, there are still a number of items to be finalized, and we look forward to providing more detailed information as soon as possible.”
St. Christopher”™s was established in 1881, providing residential programs that encompass special education schooling along with comprehensive, therapeutic social and family services.
McQuade shut it doors at the end of 2009.
