With a signed budget in hand as she completes her final year in office, Gov. M. Jodi Rell appointed Brenda Sisco as secretary of the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.
OPM acts as the governor”™s lead budgetary adviser.
Commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) since January 2008, Sisco succeeds outgoing OPM Secretary Robert Genuario, a Norwalk resident who was recently confirmed as a Superior Court judge.
Sisco holds a bachelor”™s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Before joining DAS, she was director of the governor”™s office of legislative affairs.
“Brenda has tremendous integrity and a roll-up-your sleeves work ethic that has earned the respect of many, both in and out of state government,” Rell said in a prepared statement. “She has shepherded DAS through many successful and cost-saving initiatives at a time when state government needed to adopt efficiencies without sacrificing service to our citizens.”
The governor also announced she is promoting to DAS commissioner the department”™s Deputy Commissioner Martin Anderson, a 22-year agency veteran who holds three degrees, including a doctorate, from Oklahoma State University.
DAS operates the examination and selection process for state job openings; recovers money owed the state; manages the state”™s workers”™ compensation portfolio; and operates the state fleet of vehicles.
