The Danbury Common Council approved a compromise allowing W.R. Berkley Corp. helicopter access to a 100,000-square-foot data center it plans to build in Danbury.
The Greenwich-based insurance carrier had originally requested permission to build a helicopter landing pad on the property in the city”™s Reserve area, a proposal that was fought by residents. Instead, the city is giving the company access to an emergency gate at Danbury”™s civilian airfield where helicopters can land.
W.R. Berkley has indicated it plans to make 90 flights annually.
