Gov. Dannel P. Malloy was scheduled to attend a Wednesday morning groundbreaking ceremony for a highway improvement project on Interstate 95 in Norwalk, with the goal of reducing bottlenecks at rush hour.
The $86 million project will add lanes and other improvements at I-95 exits 14 and 15.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation separately warned of delays in New Haven beginning June 22, as I-95 traffic is shifted onto the new, northbound lanes of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge there, also known as the Q Bridge.
In May, a study from INRIX concluded Fairfield County has the fifth highest traffic congestion in the nation.
Separately, Hartford was awarded a $10 million federal grant to better link the city’s Union Station with transit, pedestrian and bike routes, feeding into the “iQuilt” project that envisions a “GreenWalk” connecting the city’s attractions.
