NBCUniversal announced two-year extensions for three daytime talk shows taped at the Stamford Media Center.
“Maury,” “The Jerry Springer Show” and “The Steve Wilkos Show” have all been sold through September 2016 to station groups including Tribune, Sinclair, Hearst and Sunbeam. The stations represent more than 60 percent of the U.S. market, including WPIX New York.
“These long-running drama-based shows resonate with the daytime audience,” said Barry Wallach, president of NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, in a prepared statement.
A fourth talk show, “Trisha Goddard,” begins taping in Stamford this fall.
“Maury” is in its 14th season in national syndication, with 3.3 million daily viewers for the 2011-2012 season. “The Jerry Springer Show” debuted in 1991 and averages 2.1 million viewers, while “The Steve Wilkos Show” has 1.8 million daily viewers on average.
