FAIRFIELD – A pair of national chains have plans to open new stores on Black Rock Turnpike replacing the former sites of the Bond Vet veterinary clinic and the Black Rock Theater, according to the property manager Kleban Properties.
Crew Factory outlet has signed a lease for the 5,000-square-foot space at the former site of the Black Rock Theater in the Fairfield Turnpike Center. According to Ken Kleban, that shopping center is fully leased. J. Crew Factory sells classic, preppy-inspired clothing for men, women, and children at lower prices than the main J. Crew brand.
Paris Baguette, a Tri-state café chain, is opening a restaurant at the former Bond Vet animal clinic in the Fairview Plaza, according to Kleban. Bond Vet closed only months after opening this summer.
Fairview Plaza Associates, the landlord, have sued BV CT LLC and Bond Veterinary Inc. for back rent and breaking a 10-year lease, according to Bridgeport Superior Court records. Fairview Plaza Associates sued Bond Vet on June 13. As of that date, the property owner charges Bond Vet owed them $17, 329 in rent. Fairview is represented by attorney Stephan Grozinger of Weston.
In an answer to the complaint, Bond Vet denied that any default occurred and that the plaintiff failed to properly serve a default notice on them as tenant at Bond Vet’s correct address and therefore is not entitled to relief.
While the case is due to go to trial on July 15, 2026, Bond Vet has been closed since June 2. A sign posted on the 1982 Black Rock Turnpike location refers customers to other locations in Newtown, Middletown and North Haven.
While leases have been signed, there is no sign of any prep work going on at both locations yet or the opening dates.
