STRATFORD – While Barnum Animal Hospital alerted clients that it plans to close Sept. 1, there is a chance new veterinarians could buy the practice and save it, according to a source at the hospital.
Drs. Louis Pieper and Veronica Wong are retiring and plan to close veterinary hospital at 755 Barnum Ave. Cutoff in Stratford after more than four decades, according to a notice they sent to their clients on Aug. 20. The note also mentioned that all pet records would be available for pickup after Sept. 1 and until Sept. 30 in the office. Clients are asked to call ahead.
However, according to a source at the hospital, the doctors are in negotiations with other veterinarians to purchase the practice and possibly keep it going. More news on the possible purchase should be known by Sept. 1.

Dr Pieper to such good care of my Wyatt and helped me navigate through many neurologists to control his seizures. He thrived for 9 1/2 years thanks to him. I will be forever grateful for the care over those many years for my many pets. Thank you Dr Pieper and Dr Wong and your amazing staff!”
