North Korean troops: Ukraine says that its soldiers have fired on North Korean soldiers who are fighting alongside Russian troops. It’s believed that 12,000 soldiers from North Korea have been sent to the front lines to help Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces in the war Putin started by invading Ukraine. Foreign ministers of U.S. allies in Europe issued a statement this morning in which they condemned North Korea for sending both soldiers and missiles for Russia to use in the war.
Airstrikes: Palestinian officials say an Israeli airstrike on northern Gaza has killed at least 20 people, most of them women and children. The airstrike was on the town of Deir Al-Balah. The Palestinians say that a home where refugees were taking shelter was hit. The Israelis said that they were targeting a weapons storage facility. The Palestinians said that other Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City killed an additional 10 people.
Sabotage: Reporting by NBC, ABC and others confirms a report by the Wall Street Journal that Russia is behind a plot to put explosives on cargo airplanes bound from Europe to the U.S. Two packages waiting to be loaded on aircraft started fires at DHL shipping centers in Germany and England. It’s believed the incendiary devices were intended to start fires on DHL airplanes en route to the U.S. Four people were arrested by police in Poland and two more suspects are being sought. Russia denies that it’s behind the sabotage.
