Burke Rehabilitation has appointed Andrew D. Cohen, Ph.D., partner at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, and Kevin J. McCarthy, managing director at Cushman & Wakefield, to its hospital Board of Trustees. “Our Board of Trustees plays an integral role in guiding the continued growth and success of Burke Rehabilitation under our vision of leading the field as the most effective and compassionate provider of medical rehabilitation,” said Scott Edelman, MBA, CPA, CFE, executive director of Burke Rehabilitation. “The extensive skillsets and proven leadership of Dr. Andrew Cohen and Kevin McCarthy make them outstanding additions to our distinguished group of committed professionals….”
Cohen has more than 15 years of experience working in patent law, with an emphasis on life science patent litigation. As a trained organic chemist, Cohen leverages his scientific background to translate complicated technology into easy-to-understand terms. He is a well-rounded litigator, representing clients in complex commercial disputes, in particular those who have a connection to science or technology. Cohen maintains an active pro bono practice in areas of civil rights, immigration and housing, particularly in White Plains and surrounding communities, where he and his family have lived for 15 years.
McCarthy joins the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital Board of Trustees, guided by his two decades of experience in commercial real estate, currently serving as a managing director at Cushman & Wakefield. In this role, he provides strategic real estate solutions for tenants, landlords, owners and buyers, with a focus on the tristate area. McCarthy has a history of community and nonprofit involvement as a lifelong resident of White Plains. His affiliation with Villanova University as an advisory board member and mentorship representative at the Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate underscores his commitment to fostering future leaders.
