The CT Challenge, one of the state’s largest single fundraising events is happening on Saturday, July 27. Hundreds of bike riders are expected to participate in the main event.
Participants will depart from Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield at 5am, following their choice of route ranging from 10 to 100 miles in length. A virtual option which can be completed anywhere is also available.
This year’s fundraiser is anticipated to raise $750,000 to fund wellness programs for cancer patients.
There really aren’t a lot of post-treatment resources for the long-term health challenges cancer survivors face,” says CT Challenge co-founder and childhood cancer survivor Jeff Keith. “Exercise and diet programs are proven to reduce cancer recurrence and improve quality of life, but the majority of hospitals nationwide don’t provide these services to cancer survivors. All of our generous sponsors, riders and donors help us fill that gap.”
Registration is still open and can be found at https://bike.ctchallenge.org/
