Norwalk-based GameChange Solar announced on June 18 that a new solar power facility in Florida has taken delivery of its Genius Tracker system, designed for high-wind environments.
The single-axis Genius Tracker system allows solar panels pointed in a single direction to tilt forwards and backwards to optimize the amount of light captured, ease maintenance, or respond to weather conditions. The simple but sturdy design, which was tested in wind tunnels at speeds up to 158 miles per hour, is perfect for this project in Florida as it will have the highest average windspeed of any solar facility in the United States.

The ability to develop projects in previously undesirable locations will allow solar energy to become an even larger part of the energy mix.”
