Aquarion Water Company is seeking nominations for their fourteenth Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards. The award recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations across Connecticut that have made significant contributions and a continued commitment to preserving the environment.
There are distinct awards for environmental contributions by adults, non-profit organizations, businesses, and students in grades 9 to 12. The winner of the student award will receive a $1000 prize, while those in the other categories will be able to choose an environmental non-profit to receive a $5,000 grant from Aquarion in their honor.
“This year marks the fourteenth anniversary of the Environmental Champion Awards, a testament to the strong public support for environmental stewardship,” said President of Aquarion Water Company Donald Morrissey in a press release. “We are thrilled to recognize the extraordinary achievements of those who go above and beyond in their efforts to protect Connecticut’s natural resources.”
“The passion and dedication of Connecticut’s environmental volunteers inspire us all and underscore the importance of collective action in safeguarding our environment,” added Morrissey. “We look forward to celebrating these remarkable individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, and students for their contributions to our state’s environment.”
The deadline for nominations is May 3, with a celebratory ceremony planned for June 1 at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo.
