The Chopt Creative Salad Co. restaurant chain is being sued by a customer who claimed a salad she purchased at its Mount Kisco location contained a piece of the manager’s finger.
According to an Associated Press report, Allison Cozzi of Greenwich said she bought the salad on April 7. While she was eating the salad, she allegedly discovered that “she was chewing on a portion of a human finger that had been mixed in to, and made a part of, the salad.”
Cozzi’s lawsuit said the restaurant’s manager allegedly severed a piece of her left pointer finger while chopping arugula. While the manager went to the hospital, the severed finger wound up in the salad that Cozzi received.
Cozzi’s lawsuit stated that she endured physical and emotional injuries from the incident, including shock, panic attacks, migraine headaches, cognitive impairment, nausea, dizziness, and neck and shoulder pains. She is seeking unspecified monetary damages.
Chopt, which has more than 70 locations across the eastern U.S., did not publicly comment on the lawsuit.
