The financial problems that plagued the Boston Market restaurant chain have permeated into Connecticut, where the chain’s locations have been served with eviction notices for nonpayment of rent.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Boston Market has faced multiple lawsuits from vendors accusing the company of not honoring its bills. In May, the company’s headquarters were seized after Colorado Department of Revenue filed a lawsuit against the company over unpaid taxes, which had piled up for more than a year. Restaurant Business reported the U.S. Department of Labor is investigating Boston Market over complaints regarding late and unpaid wages across the country.
In Connecticut, the local restaurants appeared to have stopped paying their rent earlier this year. Boston Market has Fairfield County locations in Danbury, Stamford and Wilton, along with eateries in Bristol, East Haven, Meriden, Milford and West Hartford. Similar evictions have either occurred or are currently underway in Long Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Detroit.
