Bank of America is planning to close three Connecticut branches next year, including two in Fairfield County.
The bank’s location at 162 E. Putnam Ave. in Cos Cob is slated to close on March 19, 2024, while the Norwalk branch at 48 Wall St. is closing on Aug. 20, 2024. A branch at 70 Farmington Ave. in Hartford will also shut down in August.
Nationwide, banks are closing more branches than opening them. Last year, 3,000 branches were closed across the country while only 1,000 new branches were open. According to Kiplinger, more than 7,000 U.S. bank branches closed, accounting for 9% of all locations, with one-third of the closures occurring in predominantly nonwhite communities.
