The indefatigable Cher has a new project, but it has nothing to do with music, movies or fashion. Instead, she has teamed with the New Zealand gelato artisan Gianpaolo Grazioli (also known as Giapo) on the release of “Cherlato,” a new mobile gelato truck serving the residents of Los Angeles.
The Cherlato gelato truck features the award-winning icon’s image and features Giapo’s freshly made gelato made fresh daily with seasonal ingredients. The menu features such Cher-inspired treats as “Snap Out of It! Kefir & Cardamom,” “Breakfast at Cher’s Coffee & Donuts,” “Chocolate XO Cher.” Also being offered is “SoCal’s Coldest Avocado on Toast,” featuring avocado and breadcrumbs.
“It’s the gelato that gets you out of bed at midnight,” said Cher in a press statement. “It’s no secret that I absolutely love ice cream and gelato. When I tasted Giapo’s gelato while on tour in Auckland, New Zealand, it was the best I’d ever had. When I returned to his store the next day, he had each flavor prepared for me to taste. I loved them all. Giapo is truly the Michaelangelo of gelato. It’s been a long five-year process getting my favorite gelato home to L.A., but I can say it’s well worth it.”
The Cherlato truck will change locations across Los Angeles daily and fans of Cher and gelato lovers can track the vehicle at Cherlato.com and on social media via @cherlato_gelato or with the truck’s hashtag #Cherlato. It is not certain if Cherlato will be expanded as a franchise to other parts of the country.
