New Canaan”™s Board of Selectmen approved the use of Waveny Park for an arts festival produced by the local nonprofit Carriage Barn Arts Center.
The festival will run 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 1, with a backup date of Oct. 8. According to the NewCanaanite.com blog, the Carriage Barn Arts Center will curate and jury the works submitted by participating artists, who will be charged an entry fee by the nonprofit for participation.
Hilary Wittmann, the Carriage Barn”™s executive director, said the festival will be free and coincide with her organization”™s 45 Annual Member Show.
“Approximately 35 artists would exhibit in 10-by-10 display spaces or tents in the park,” said Wittmann. “In the parking area and courtyard area of the Carriage Barn and Powerhouse Theatre, that sort of section of the park.”
