Trump surrender:Â Donald Trump is scheduled to board his private jetliner today at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida to fly to New York in preparation for his arraignment tomorrow. Trump faces what is believed to be an approximately 30-count indictment that was returned by a Manhattan grand jury. Trump’s plane is expected at LaGuardia Airport this afternoon. He is expected to spend the night at Trump Tower, surrender for booking in the morning, appear before a judge tomorrow afternoon, and then fly back to Florida for a public appearance at 8:15 tomorrow night at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Tornadoes:Â At least 32 people are reported dead from the tornado outbreak yesterday that affected 11 states.The National Weather Service confirmed that four tornadoes touched down in New Jersey, in the communities of Cinnaminson, Jackson Township, Sea Girt, and Howell Township.
Finland’s NATO membership:Â NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this morning that Finland will become a NATO member effective tomorrow. He said that Finland’s flag will be raised along with the flags of other member nations at NATO’s headquarters in Brussels. Russia had denounced Finland’s membership. The Russians said they would strengthen their military defenses along the border with NATO countries.
Finland’s government shifts right:Â Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin was defeated for another term in an election yesterday that gave the right-wing National Coalition Party enough votes for it to form a new government and install a new leader. This marks another win for the political right over the political left in Europe.
WSJ reporter:Â U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken over the weekend pressed the Russians to release Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who the Russians arrested and charged with being a spy. Gershkovich is 31 years old. His parents fled the Soviet Union and settled in New Jersey.
Oil production cuts:Â Oil prices have jumped about 5% as of this morning in the wake of Arab nations and Russia announcing cuts in oil production. The cuts total about two million barrels of oil a day. The countries that are cutting production are responsible for about 40% of the word’s oil supply.
