Orson Welles is in the spotlight beginning next month as The Free Library of Philadelphia launches a seven-part series of live evening events exploring the life and career of iconoclastic actor and filmmaker.
“Orson Welles & The Golden Age of Hollywood” spans the iconic figure”™s career, including his long-overlooked work as a social justice advocate. Guest speakers at the event include Chicago Tribune critic and TCM guest host Michael Phillips and National Public Radio”™s Bob Mondello. The series launches on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. with the presentation “Mr. Lucky: The Life of Orson Welles Before Hollywood” with award-winning author and historian David Nasaw.
Events will take place through October at the Parkway Central Library on 1901 Vine Street in Philadelphia. Admission is free, but tickets must be obtained online at tinyurl.com/wellesFLP.
