The Ridgefield Independent Film Festival (RIFF) has announced the opening presentation of its eighth iteration will be “A Little White Lie,” a film by Michael Marren adapted from the book “Shriver” by Ridgefield resident Chris Belden.
The film stars Michael Shannon as a handyman who has never read a book in his life. He is mistaken for a reclusive novelist and is invited to a college literary festival where he falls in love with an English professor played by Kate Hudson. Zach Braff and Don Johnson co-star in this romantic comedy, which will be screened at The Ridgefield Playhouse on May 18th at 7:00 p.m.; a Q&A session with the filmmakers and a reception will follow the screening.
This year”™s RIFF has 45 selections from U.S. and international filmmakers. The festival”™s “Made in CT” program will Cob Carlson’s documentary “The Greatest Radio Station in the World” about Bridgeport’s WPKN-FM and stop-motion animated shorts created by fifth graders at the Farmingdale Elementary School in Ridgefield.
