NTSB investigators:Â The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched investigators today to the scene of another Norfolk Southern freight train derailment in Ohio. This one was near Springfield, Ohio, about 230 miles away from East Palestine where a Norfolk Southern train carrying toxic chemicals derailed and caught fire about a month ago. Although there were hazardous chemicals in tank cars that were part of the 212-car train that derailed this weekend, there were no chemical spills in the accident.
Rap concert stampede:Â One person was killed and eight others injured, two critically, in a stampede during a rap concert in Rochester, New York, last night. The stampede started when some members of the crowd thought they heard gunshots and panicked.
Manafort to pay fine:Â The former manager of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, Paul Manafort, has agreed to pay a $3.15 million fine imposed by the Department of Justice for his failure to disclose more than 20 foreign bank accounts. Manafort had been convicted of criminal charges including tax fraud and was sentenced to 75 years in prison but received a Presidential Pardon for those crimes from Trump.
Trump speech:Â CNN has fact-checked Donald Trump’s speech over the weekend to the Conservative Political Action Conference and found more than 23 specific lies told by Trump. These included a claim that he had the best job creation record of any president in history when, in fact, 2.6 million jobs were lost under his administration. In another lie CNN found, Trump claimed that the U.S. abandoned F-16 fighter jets when it pulled out of Afghanistan allowing them to be taken by the Taliban. In fact, the U.S. did not abandon any F-16 jets in Afghanistan.
Americans kidnapped:Â The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of four Americans who were kidnapped yesterday in Mexico and the arrest of the perpetrators. The four were in a minivan with North Carolina license plates that came under fire shortly after it entered Mexico from Brownsville, Texas.
Gary Rossington:Â The last surviving founding member of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd has died. Gary Rossington was 71 years old. He had a number of heart-related health issues over the years.
