Connecticut”™s Department of Revenue Services (DRS) is following the lead of the federal government and delaying the filing and payment deadline for individual state income tax returns from April 15 to May 17.
According to DRS Commissioner Mark Boughton, the deadline change was made because Connecticut’s individual income tax return begins with federal adjusted gross income. As a result, having the federal and state deadlines in sync is beneficial for tax filers.
“Taxpayers do an excellent job of filing their Connecticut income tax returns accurately and on time,” said Boughton, a former Danbury mayor. “To further assist and support them, Connecticut will align with the extended federal deadline.”
